The JioMeet App is going to against its direct rivals- Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom which has increased the number of users since the COVID-19 lockdown started.

After testing four months Reliance Jio has finally launched JioMeet in the country. The JioMeet app is available on both Google Play Store and Apple store. With JioMeet, Reliance Jio is undoubtedly aiming to take on the likes of other video calling platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, Microsoft Teams, among others.

JioMeet, a free video calling app by Reliance Jio has been launched across multiple platforms with an aim to take on Zoom and Google Meet.

Previously, Jio while announcing its Q4 fiscal results, revealed that its looking to launch a new cross-platform video calling solution in India very soon. In fact, a beta version of the app was also listed on the Play Store but was removed, likely in the heads up to the official launch.

Reliance launches JioMeet at the time when people across the country are discarding products that are not made in India especially with China as an origin country. Currently, JioMeet has been rated as high as 4.8 on the App store and 4.6 on the Google Play store. The app has already been downloaded by 100k Android users.

How to download JioMeet App

JioMeet App is currently available on the Google Play Store ad the Apple Store. Reliance JioMeet is a multi-platform video conferencing solution that’s available as an app that can be used with browsers such as Google Chrome. There’s an Outlook plugin for the JioMeet service available as well.

You can sign in using your company domain on the app. In the order to sign in, follow the steps given below.

  • Open JioMeet app or   visit https://www.jiomeetpro.jio.com
  • Go to “Sign In” page
  • Click on “Company Domain” option
  • Enter your domain/full email address
  • If you don’t know my Domain ID, click on “I don’t know my company domain” option-> Enter you full email address
  • Click on “Continue”

Few important things to keep in mind.

  • JioMeet can be used for both a one-on-one meeting group video conference call hosting up to 100 participants at the same time.
  • Signing up to JioMeet to start a meeting is easy. You will just need to enter the mobile number, name, email ID. That’s it.
  • You will be able to join a meeting without signing up. To start a meeting you will need to create an account and login.
  • Similar to Zoom, JioMeet lets you schedule a meeting and share the meeting code in advance with the participants.
  • Most video calling platforms have a limit for free meeting. A meeting on JioMeet can go on for 24 hours without any interruption.
  • Keeping privacy in mind, each and every meeting hosted on JioMeet is password protected.
  • Similar to Zoom, JioMeet also comes with Screen Sharing Option.

  • Another interesting feature that JioMeet brings is a safe Diving Mode. This will be helpful for people who need to attend an important video conference while on their way to somewhere.
  • JioMeet comes with multi-device support. You will be able to seamlessly switch from one device to another while on a call. It supports up to 5 devices.
  • Just a Zoom, JioMeet also comes with the Waiting Room option. You can choose to enable or disable it. The option should be enabled for better security of the meeting. With Waiting Room option turned on, no one will be able to join a meeting without the host’s permission.

How to join  JioMeet call

To join a JioMeet meeting you will need to click on the Join option on the home screen and enter the Meeting ID provided by the host.

How to start a JioMeet call

To start a meeting you need to sign up with your name (first and last) and phone number, and then enter OTP. It’s as easy as that.

  • Just click on the New Meeting option on the home screen. Notably, of you have ever users Zoom you won’t face any issue as both more or less have the same interface.
  • Select whether you want to keep Video on or off and generate a personal meeting ID. There’s also an option to not generate ID but it’s better if you enable the option.
  • Click on Start Meeting
  • Invite participants by clicking on the participant option and then on invite. You can choose to mute or unmute participating when they join.
  • You can send Meeting ID link via various platforms including messages, WhatsApp, Twitter, among others.

JioMeet service comes with WEBRTC support that allows users to join a meeting from any devices via JioMeet invite link from a supported browser without the need to download any separate app. However, to host a meeting on JioMeet users will need to download the app. The services offer HD audion and video call quality and comes with the option to schedule a meeting in advance and share meeting details with invites.

According to the company, meeting in JioMeet are encrypted and password protected. In addition to this, the host can enable the Waiting Room to ensure no participant joins without permission.

As a host, you can do the following controls:

As I guest user, can I join a meeting using Meeting ID?

How can I make a video feed or shared screen of a participant full screen?

By double-clicking on any video feed on can make it full screen for better visibility and user experience. User can again double-tap to go back to normal view.

Can Host mute/unmute all attendees at once?

Yes, Tap on Participants option>> Mute/Unmute All. Moreover, any participants joining the call after the Host has muted all the participants will join as Muted by default.

Difference between “Leave Meeting” and “End Meetings”?

  • Leave Meeting- Host/Attendees can leave meetings anytime, but other participants will continue in a call.
  • End Meeting- Host can End the meeting for all.

How do I schedule a meeting?

How to view contacts?

  1. JioMeet quickly and easily recognizes which of your contacts are using JioMeet by server syncing your phone’s address book.
  2. Open JioMeet > Go to Contacts tab
  3. Your Phone Contacts which are already registered on JioMeet can see JioMeet Call & Native dialler options.

How to place a video call?

  1. Go to contacts page
  2. Tap on any Contact Name
  3. Tap on Meet icon to make a Video Call.

How to receive a video call?

When someone video calls you, you will see an incoming JioMeet Call screen, where you can:

Tap on the green phone button to accept the call.

Tap on the red phone button to decline the call.

How do I create a Group in JioMeet?

  1. Go to Contacts Tab
  2. Click on “+” icon
  3. Click on “Create a Group”
  4. Enter Group name
  5. Add Invitees
  6. Click on Create Group


  1. In the JioMeet app, registered users can be part of the Group.
  2. Jio Meet app, the Creator of the Group can Delete the Group
  3. Only the Creator of the Group can Add/Remove users from the Group

How to make a group video call?

Group Calling allows up to 100 participants to make video call with each other using JioMeet Beta.

  1. Go to Contacts page -> Groups.
  2. Select the Group(group) you want to make a video call to.
  3. Tap on Meet button.

How to avoid Echo in a meeting?

  • Ensure another participant is not close to you.
  • If you are connected using two devices in same meeting kindly keep MIC and Speaker off for another device.
  • Generally, if you are hearing echo, it means that there is a device out there that is Group ling your audio back.

Can I use a Bluetooth Headset?

Yes, if the Bluetooth device is compatible with the computer or mobile device that you are using.

You can change your profile picture by going to > Settings > Profile > Take Photo/Choose Photo

Video quality that you can get depends on the device used and network you are connected to. Considering you are connected to the wired network with dedicated bandwidth you can experience Full High definition (720p) video quality.

The dynamic room means a temporary room. A personal room means a dedicated room that will be available all the time.

How do I join a meeting as a participant?

As part of the invite, you will be provided with following options to join:

  • Click on the link provided to join the meeting in the invite email you would have received.
  • You will be asked to provide the Password to enter the meeting, if set by the host.
  • You can use JioMeet desktop/mobile app/WebRTC to join the meeting.

What are the supported browsers to join the conference?

JioMeet is best experienced in the Chrome browser (Version 80 and above) and Firefox (Version 57 and above).

Yes. As part of the invite, you will be provided with following options to join:

  • Click on the link provided to join the meeting in the invite email you would have received.
  • Click on Open in Chrome browser >> Join from Web Browser
  • Joining page will appear where you will be asked to provide the Name and Password (If any) to enter the meeting.

Microphone issues?

If you are experiencing issues using your microphone, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Ensure the microphone is not on mute. If you see the muted Audio icon in the below-left panel, tap it to unmute yourself.
  • If you are still muted, the host may have muted you upon entering the meeting. Ask to be unmuted by sending a chat message to the host.
  • Try using earphones with a microphone.
  • Ensure JioMeet has access to your device microphone.
  • iOS: Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and switch on the toggle for JioMeet.
  • Android: Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App permissions > Microphone and switch on the toggle for JioMeet.
  • Ensure that no other applications are using the microphone at the same time.
  • iOS: Double-tap the “Home” button to view apps currently running. Swipe up to close an app.
  • Android: Tap the multi-task button (the square icon usually in the bottom-right corner) to view apps currently running. Swipe left of right to close an app.
  • Restart your device
